Bed Shield is an installation, photographic and performance piece of me attempting to lay in peace and safety in a constructed steel dagger sculptural bed. Encompassing upon the saying Double Edged Sword, “Bed Shield” is an expression of the bed being the most important sight for a human, or as it recently stated by the artist Monica Bonvicini “the bed as the crime scene” where everything happens, making the personal - political. The shield structure looks more like daggers pointing up from the bed and at the same time pressing down on the mattress. This installation invites viewers to imagine the sense of security or lack there of for the individual in one’s own bed while feeling the tension of possible injury coupled with hope of protection.
